Aluminum Cable Tray

Cable management is often the critical for system longevity. Solar cables carry high voltage DC current and are exposed to extreme weather for decades.

Leaving cables on the roof surface is a safety hazard. Topfencesolar branded Solar Aluminum Cable Tray offers a dedicated highway for solar cable wiring.

Aluminum Cable Tray

Physical Protection: The tray prevents damage from sharp roof edges, keep solar system running safely.

Heat dissipation: Cable trays with holes design with good ventilation for cables. This special design could be effectively reducing resistance and heat accumulation.

Aluminum Cable Tray

Designed for Solar Cable Specifics

Solar PV cables are unique with double insulated and thicker. They require a support system that respects their bend radius and weight.

Refers to the materials of cable trays, the galvanized steel which acts as a heavy heat sink, Aluminum is the most ideal material for solar.

Corrosion Resistant: Naturally creates a protective oxide layer, perfect for outdoor exposure.

Lightweight: Reduces the static load on your roof structure.

Non Magnetic: Minimizes power loss due to magnetic induction in high current applications.

Available Types of Cable Tray

We offer three distinct configurations to match your specific installation environment:

1. Ladder Type Cable Tray

Good for Long span runs and heavy feeder cables.

Feature: Open rungs provide maximum airflow for cooling high amp cables.

2. Perforated Cable Tray

Application: Commercial rooftops requiring bottom protection.

Advantage: Its ventilated bottom slots allow water drainage while protecting cables from uneven roof surfaces.

3. Wire Mesh Cable Tray

Specially designed for complex routing with multiple turns and drops.

Feature: Highly flexible; can be cut and bent on site to navigate obstacles easily.

How Do Cable Trays Work?

Aluminum Cable Tray

Instead of draping cables across the roof surface, the tray spans the distance between mounting points.

It transfers the weight of the cables onto the racking structure or the roof attachments, keeping the wires elevated. This prevents the cables from sitting in puddles of water during rainstorms and keeps them organized so maintenance teams can trace a circuit easily later on.

How to Install Cable Trays?

The installation is simple, easy and fast with Topfencesolar precise designs. Here is the general workflow for a rooftop aluminum system:

Step 1: Map the Route. Don't just start drilling. Plan the path from the array to the inverter. Avoid shading the panels with the tray itself!

Step 2: Install Brackets. You need to elevate the tray off the roof. Attach your mounting feet or connect the tray directly to the solar rails.

Step 3: Connect the Sections. Use splice plates to join two lengths of tray. Leave a small gap between sections for thermal expansion. Because aluminum expands when it gets hot; if you bolt them too tight without a gap, the tray can warp.

Step 4: Lay the Cable. Place the cables in the tray. Don't pull them too tight. Use UV rated cable ties or aluminum cable cleats to secure them every few feet.

Step 5: Grounding. Since the tray is metal, it must be grounded. Use bonding jumpers across the splice plates to ensure electrical continuity.
